About the Durham Armory


The Durham Armory is located on the corner of Foster and Morgan streets and is available for rentals for your community or private event, whether it is a fundraiser, concert, wedding reception, seminar or family reunion.

2021 Rentals

We are reopening our special use facilities in accordance with the current mandates and restrictions in place in North Carolina. Those interested in booking the Durham Armory, Spruce Pine Lodge, or the Forest Hills Neighborhood Clubhouse for an event in 2021 can submit a request using the Special Use Facility Rental Request Form beginning Monday, April 26, 2021, at 8 a.m.

All requests will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis. A member of the reservations team will contact you to confirm the booking details. Once the reservation is made you will have 10 days to pay the security deposit and application fee. 

Any booking where payment is not made by the end of the 10 days will be removed and the date will reopen for others to reserve.

2022 Rentals

We will hold our annual lottery and scheduling meeting on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at the Durham Armory located at 212 Foster Street, Durham, NC 27701. Those interested in booking the Durham Armory for an event in 2022 can register for a spot to attend the lottery and scheduling meeting
  • The lottery registration period will be open from April 28, 2021 through May 21, 2021. 
  • Only one guest per event will be allowed to register and attend the meeting. 
  • Unregistered participants will not be admitted. 
  • Check-in will begin at 7:30 a.m., but the meeting will not begin until 8:30 a.m.
  • Numbers will be drawn at 8:30 a.m. for all those checked-in. Once the drawing has started, anyone arriving late will be assigned the next number as they check-in.
  • You will be required to pay the security deposit and application fee the day of the lottery.

Due to COVID-19, all rentals are required to comply with local and state restrictions including indoor mass gathering size.

Tour Days & Times


Tours are provided every 1st and 3rd Monday of the month, from noon to 6 p.m. No appointment necessary.

Rental Times


  • Sunday through Saturday
  • 6 a.m. to 2 a.m. (minimum 6 hours)
The facility will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Parking


Parking for loading and unloading is permitted under the carport in the back of the building. Guest parking is available on the street or at the Durham Centre Parking Garage located at 300 W. Alcohol Information

Alcoholic beverages are strictly prohibited except when permits to serve such beverages are obtained from Durham Parks and Recreation and/or the State ABC Board. Permits can be found at the ABC Commission website.

Events in which alcohol will be served are required to hire event security through the Durham Police Department. Renters are responsible for contacting the Durham Police Department to obtain information and to schedule officers for their event. Payment is due in cash, to the officer(s) at the beginning of the event. Renters should contact Officer Jason Evans 336-601-0295 to arrange security.

A certificate of liability insurance must be provided to Durham Parks and Recreation no later than 15 days prior to event. The insurance must show general liability insurance with an alcohol/liquor rider for at least $1,000,000, naming the City of Durham as an additional insured. The certificate of insurance must have an original signature covering the date of your event. Insurance can be obtained from any insurance company (Ex. WedSafe, Travelers Insurance, State Farm, etc.).
